Tyre selfie scheme reaches one million milestone

By John SwiftIndustry News22nd June 2019

One million drivers have had their tyres checked by a free digital scan service that takes ‘selfies’ of them and then reports on their condition.

Nokian tyres launched the SnapSkan service in 2016 in its native Finland and it is now used throughout Scandinavia. It tells the owner the condition and tread depth of their tyres by using a drive-over scanner and sends a message to their mobile.

Unfortunately SnapSkan has already revealed that 10% of its users have dangerous tyres!

Ville Nikkola, Head of Consumer Business Operations from Nokian Tyres, said: “We placed the service in places where many people drive through every day anyway and made the results accessible via the driver’s own mobile device. We are happy that so many consumers have found the service and are hoping to make the roads safer to millions of more in the future.”
