Avoid the hassle and danger of towing your caravan to a local garage. We can replace your caravan tyres at a time and place that suits you.
The tyres we provide are always stored to the manufacturers recommendations and by industry standard are fit for retail up to 5 years from the date of production. In addition, every tyre we provide is covered by a manufacturers guarantee against defects!
Believe it or not, all caravans use conventional car or light van tyres. The difference, however, is that caravans have to accommodate a greater load capacity. With this in mind, it is essential that caravan owners select the right size tyre with a suitable load and speed rating. Not doing so could cause your tyres to puncture, blow out, or rupture. If you’ve purchased a brand new caravan, there’s probably no need to worry; however, second-hand caravan owners should be warier. Remember, a tyre’s age starts from the time it was manufactured, not the time it was fitted.
If you’re concerned that your caravan tyres aren’t the correct size or are too old, you should replace them. Our experienced tyre technicians can service caravans up to a maximum weight of 3.5 tonnes – at a time and place that suits you.
While caravans tend to have a fairly low annual mileage, their tyres can deteriorate without frequent road use. In fact, merely storing caravan tyres for extended periods of time or exposing them to frequent sunlight can create undue strain. Likewise, if a caravan is left stationary on the drive or in a garage for several months, it could cause what’s known as ‘flat-spotting’ – a slight ride disturbance or vibration when it is driven again.
Not sure whether your caravan tyres need replacing? Here are a few simple tyre checks you can make:
If you’ve considered adding extra safety devices to your caravan, you may have come across Tyron bands. These cylindrical bands act as a preventative measure if a tyre deflates or blows out. In such event, the band will lock the tyre onto the wheel, preventing it from hitting the road. While Tyron bands won’t prevent the caravan tyre itself from deflating, it does provide you with the necessary stability and support to find a safe place to stop. This works similarly to a run flat tyre, enabling you to drive for a short distance without the tyre shooting off or causing extra damage.
Unlike many tyre traders, all our tyre technicians are highly trained to replace or remove Tyron bands. All we ask is that you let us know whether your caravan has Tyron band tyres beforehand, as they can take a bit longer to replace. If you’re unsure whether there are Tyron bands fitted to your caravan, look for a sticker fitted next to the valve on the wheel – this indicates that one is in place.
