Parcel delivery specialist chooses Michelin

Michelin so impressed a parcel distribution operator with its Agilis+ tyres that the company signed a deal to fit them across its fleet of 15 vans.
DB Distribution took the Michelin supply policy for all its Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans after being impressed by the improved tyre life, robustness and reduced downtime during a trial.
It works with FedEx, delivering parcels on a multi-drop route in Cornwall for the courier delivery specialist. With no previous tyre policy in place, Michelin invited DB Distribution to do a six-month trial of the Agilis+ tyres which have been specially developed for the van market.
Rob Berryman, director at DB Distribution, said: “Having never specified Michelin tyres before, we had no experience of what they were capable of delivering. The trial opened our eyes to what we’ve been missing out on. Tread wear has been very even and we’re confident the change in policy will noticeably extend our tyre replacement intervals. We’ll certainly continue to specify Michelin for all our tyre needs.”
One feature which impressed him was the eight kerbing protectors which guard against the sidewall being damaged if it is pinched against a kerb when parking. He added: “We now benefit from a tyre that promises maximum resistance to damage. Our drivers feel more confident that our vehicles are fitted with the best tyres for the job, particularly given the demands of our multi-drop work.”
