Michelin to demonstrate early warning safety technologies at commercial vehicle show

Michelin has again been invited by the Road Haulage Association (RHA) to share its stand at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show and display a potentially life-saving system warning van and lorry drivers of a problem with the wheels or tyres.
It is the second year running the RHA has asked Michelin to showcase its early warning safety technology designed and manufactured by Wheely-Safe, an official Michelin licensee. Built for both lorries and vans, both systems can be fitted to vehicles regardless of which tyre brand they use. The Michelin Wheel Security & Tyre Pressure Management System (TPMS) Heavy Fleet uses patented technology to create the world’s first in-motion driver alert system for detecting the onset of wheel loss before one comes detached on trucks and trailers. The wireless system also warns the driver of potential brake or hub issues that could cause them to catch fire if unchecked and provides alerts for over- or under-inflated tyres, a problem which collectively costs hauliers millions of pounds in wasted fuel and tyre life every year as well as posing a safety risk. Displayed alongside that will be the Michelin TPMS Light Fleet for vans and small vehicles, which provides visual and audible alerts if a tyre becomes under- or over-inflated, suffers fast leakage or an increase in air temperature inside, often the sign of an imminent tyre failure.
