Bridgestone makes DriveGuard run flats for the replacement tyre market

Bridgestone is to make its DriveGuard Run-Flat Technology (RFT) available on its main product lines from November so drivers can continue safely on their journey even after a puncture.*
RFT will be built into the Turanza, Blizzak and Weather Control lines and Bridgestone says is unique in the industry by making the safety system available to the replacement tyre market and not just fitted as original equipment when the vehicle is being assembled at the factory. Paolo Ferrari, CEO and President Bridgestone EMEA, said: “The development of Run-Flat Technology is hugely important to Bridgestone. We were the first to bring it to consumers over 30 years ago and have continued to be at the forefront of the technology ever since. You never know what can go wrong on the roads, but our run-flat tyres give drivers peace of mind on their journey and ensure they arrive safely at their destination. This is essential to drivers and will become even more important in the future with autonomous cars. By increasing the availability of this technology and its benefits to even more drivers means we can continue to keep everyone going, no matter what.” * Bridgestone’s tyres with DriveGuard RFT can be fitted on any car equipped with TPMS, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
