About Volvo

With the early stages of a huge investment programme by owners, Geely, now starting to bear fruit, Volvo is a rising brand with its new cars positioning themselves as being hi-tech, safe and eco-friendly and are already picking up international awards. Split into SUVs, estates/hatchback and hybrids, the expanding Volvo model range is one of the most impressive in today’s market. Volvo was the first major car maker to announce that from 2019 every new model will be electrified.

Popular Volvo Cars

Volvo XC40

The entry level SUV got off to the best possible start in life by being voted the European Car of the Year 2018, just one of its growing list of trophies. Everyone who has driven or seen the Volvo has been impressed by its ride, handling, engines, the quality of the interior, the level of connectivity and its superb safety – thanks to active systems which reduce the chance of you crashing in the first place, and passive ones which shield you from injury if you do. Volvo uses a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and fits 18 inch alloy wheels with 235/55 tyres as standard.

Volvo XC60

In less than 18 months this car has won honours almost too numerous to list, but just a few of them include the World Car of the Year 2018 (awarded at the New York Auto Show), Best Large SUV (Fleet World), Best Premium SUV (Auto Express) and UK Car of the Year 2018 by a panel of 27 of this country’s leading motoring journalists. The Volvo raises the bar for advanced safety and driver-aid features. It introduces a degree of semi- autonomous driving capability with its Pilot Assist, it’s touch screen connectivity is a cut above most others and it has been universally praised for its driving experience. The XC60 runs on 18-inch alloys with 235/60 tyres, has a TPMS, sealant kit and compressor to fix a puncture rather than run-flats.

Volvo XC90

Volvo’s biggest SUV is a seven seater, it has everything you would expect of a car in this price bracket, diesel and petrols and also the company’s Twin Engine petrol/electric hybrid option which has an official average fuel consumption of around 130 mpg, although real world evidence points to something a little lower. The XC90 is widely considered to be among the very best in this sector of the market.

Volvo V40

Volvo’s cheapest car and the oldest in its range, the V40 hatchback shares much of its mechanical underpinnings with the previous generation Ford Focus (Volvo used to be owned by Ford before being sold to Geely), which provides an excellent base for its good ride and handling even if the rest of the car is beginning to look and feel a little dated against newer rivals from the likes of Audi and VW.

Volvo V60

Elegant estate car in the BMW 3 Series Touring / Audi A4 Avant sector, this Volvo packs everything that is best about this revitalised company into one package. It excels in driver infotainment, rides and handles well, is peerless in the safety criteria and has a good, modern range of engines.

Volvo V90

Based on the S90 executive saloon which is a challenger to BMW, Audi and Mercedes territory, the V90 is a big estate, lavishly built and equipped. It has first rate safety standards and a petrol/electric hybrid, which will get ever more attractive as the business driver market moves away from diesels and into dual-fuel cars.

Volvo S60

This all-new version being launched in summer 2018 is the first Volvo to be built in the USA, the first to be built without a diesel option and the first car in this segment to be available to use through subscription in a monthly package rather than being locked into a two/three year finance contract. The sports saloon has a supercharged plug-in hybrid among the engine options, semi-autonomous driving technology and among the most advanced safety systems in its, or any other, class.

Volvo S90

Pitched against the BMW 5 Series, Jaguar XF and Mercedes-Benz E Class, the Volvo delivers luxury at a competitive price and makes a virtue of being different to the usual German products in the company car market. A key appeal is the level of features and equipment that even the entry level Momentum spec car provides, making it an appealing package. Like most other Volvos, its hybrid powertrain makes it an increasingly relevant car in today’s marketplace.
