About Ssangyong

Ssangyong is a Korean car maker dating back to 1954 and it has one credential that just about every other manufacturer would kill for – survey after survey showing its customers to be almost completely satisfied with their vehicles. To take just the latest from a long line, in 2018 it beat every other make to be named ‘Best performing car manufacturer’ in the Honest John survey. Based on more than 10,000 replies, Ssangyong got a satisfaction rating of 90% when owners rated them on reliability, ride comfort, fuel economy, practicality and performance, ease of use, safety and repair costs. Ssangyong is renowned for its 4×4 SUVs and all its vehicles are covered by an industry leading 7-year 150,000 mile warranty.

Popular Ssangyong Cars

Tivoli

The Tivoli is Ssangyong’s entry level model and a contender in the compact SUV market. For the money it is very well equipped and scores well on safety features with, for example, each of the three trim specs coming with cruise control, seven airbags and tyre pressure monitoring system as standard. Ssangyong offers an XLV model too, essentially a slightly stretched version of the standard car.

Turismo

This is a large, seven seater MPV with exceptionally high levels of flexibility in its interior layout. It has three rows of seats, with the rear two rows able to slide forward and back as the need dictates and the third row can be removed entirely for maximum load space. The second row of seats provides convenient ‘walk through’ access to the third row and can also be folded individually and used as tables. It has a 2.2 litre diesel and the automatic transmission versions uses a seven-speed gearbox from Mercedes.

Musso

The Musso is a five-seater pick-up truck with a high specification interior that includes air conditioning and an MP3/Bluetooth compatible radio as standard. Powered by a 2.2 diesel with selectable 4×4 and a manual or automatic gearbox, the Musso has a payload of 1,050 kgs and towing capacity of 3,500 kgs.

Rexton

This latest version of the big, seven seater SUV has a more luxurious interior finished in leather and has a good range of comfort and convenience tech. It has a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes and an easily operated 4×4 selector. Power comes from a 2.2 diesel with manual or automatic gearboxes.

Korando

Recently refreshed, the Ssangyong Korando is a tough 4×4, treasured among drivers who need to tow a heavy trailer and it is a previous winner of the Caravan Club’s Towcar of the Year (2014). Unlike many SUVs, the Korando has genuine off-road abilities unmatched by most in the class. It has a choice of a 2.0 litre petrol with manual or automatic gearbox but most buyers opt for the diesel, also sold with either manual or auto’ transmission. The Korando can be ordered as a front wheel drive or with 4×4.
