At Tyres on the Drive, you can get your new Saab tyres fitted as early as the next day, and at a time and location that’s convenient for you.
At that time it sold two models, the 9-3 and the 9-5. Being part of the GM group they shared some components with sister brand, Vauxhall, but Saab always injected its own flair. However, the Saab story may not be over yet as there are plans to revive the brand for a new generation of electric cars to be built in China.
The Saab 9-3 was sold as a hatchback, a convertible and as an estate with this latter also getting a cross-over version, the 9-3X which had a raised ride height and 4×4 capability. The convertible is quite sought after today while the hatchback is the most readily available second hand. This car had a diesel for the first time in Saab’s history and an unusual feature in the `Night Panel’, said to be inspired by those in fighter jets where the dashboard illumination would be reduced to prevent glare affecting the driver’s night vision.
Aimed at the business driver, the 9-5 was a sleek and well equipped saloon sold in both diesel and petrol form with a 2.8 V6 topping the range. It was as well equipped as any rival from its German competitors and was generally well regarded at the time.
