Dunlop has taken its acclaimed Sport Maxx RT 2 and optimised it for the premium SUV market. Launched in early 2018, this tyre is suitable for SUVs ranging from the likes of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio to those from Bentley, Porsche and Maserati. It stands out for the attention to detail in its development. The shape has been custom designed to distribute acceleration, braking and cornering forces evenly across the tread surface for maximum grip and minimum wear; high angled and vee-shaped grooves in the tread keep the blocks more stable and reduces the amount they bend even under when the car is heavily loaded which in turn gives more precise cornering. Dunlop has used a 'traction resin' in the compound which increases the friction between the rubber and the road and all this adds up to a tyre which has exceptional grip in the wet with most sizes being 'A' rated. Using a BMW X5 fitted with 255/50 R19s, Dunlop proved that it delivers better handling, cornering and more precise steering response at high speed.
