The Kangoo is one of Europe’s best selling small vans and is now available as an electric version (Kangoo Z.E.) as well as the traditional petrol or diesel options. There are two  equipment grades – Business and Business+, and Bluetooth, electric windows, a trip computer and fuel-saving Eco driving mode come as standard on all models. Safety and handling provisions include ABS with EBD, and sophisticated ESC stability control package with Hill Start Assist and Grip Xtend. The Kangoo can take a standard British or European size pallet in its load space and there is the option of a Maxi two seat version which has a longer wheelbase and bigger cargo area, this second variant also offering the option of a second row of seats to make a crew van. Payload ranges from 650 to 800kg for Kangoo Van and 800kg for Kangoo Maxi.

The Renault Master comes in a wide variety of versions with short, medium and long wheelbase Panel Vans, medium and long wheelbase Crew Vans (seven seats), and a large range of medium and long wheelbase conversions including chassis cabs, tippers, dropsides (all in single and double cabs), platform cabs, box vans and luton loaders. There are four lengths, front or rear-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive with single or twin rear wheels, two trim levels and four Gross Vehicle Weights. The Master has a comfortable cabin with a DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, USB, 12v power socket and on the Business+ versions, a swivelling seatback table which serves as desktop with connectivity offered by R&Go app, Media Nav or R-Link options.

Renault has a rich background in making high performance versions of its standard hatchbacks and the latest Clio Renault Sport models are the latest in a long line of sought after enthusiasts’ cars. There is the 200 EDC for drivers who want all the excitement of a hot hatch with everyday usability and the 220 Trophy for those who might want to exploit its performance on track days. The 200 EDC is powered by a direct-injection 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine delivering 200hp and 260Nm of torque available from just 2,000rpm. With a kerb weight of just 1,204 kgs, it can sprint from 0 to 60 in 6.7 seconds and max out at 143 mph. Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloys with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres but there is the option to have a ‘Cup’ chassis spec with a 3mm lower ride height, 15 per cent stiffer dampers and springs, 18-inch gloss black Renault Sport wheels, Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tyres and red brake calipers. The 220 Trophy has another 20hp and up to 280Nm of torque using the Torque Boost feature, available in fourth and fifth gears. 0 to 62 comes down to 6.6 seconds and the top speed is 146mph.

The Kadjar is Renault’s version of the Nissan Qashqai and gives it a car to compete in one of the busiest market sectors of any in the industry. There are 27 versions of it on sale and buyers can choose between four engines, five trim levels, four gearboxes and either front- or four wheel drive. This all-wheel-drive system has three operating modes – Auto, LOCK and 2WD – allowing drivers to fine tune how the car behaves according to the road surface and weather. It has fuel saving mild hybrid stop/start systems on all manual gearbox versions, is competitively specced in terms of comfort and convenience features and has plenty of safety technology built in as standard across the entire range.

The current Twingo is the third generation of Renault’s little city car and is a firm favourite with buyers for its affordability, practicality and fun factor. It has a rear engine/rear wheel drive layout, five doors and a decent carrying capacity. It gets a four star safety rating for adult occupants in the EuroNCAP crash test programme. One advantage of having the engine at the back is that there is more room for the front wheels to turn and they can swivel to 45 degrees, whereas the norm for front wheel drive cars is just 30. This means the Twingo has an exceptionally tight turning circle which is handy when parking in small gaps. Power comes from a 1.0 litre non-turbo or a 0.9 litre turbo petrol engine for the standard cars and there is a GT version with a 110hp engine. Renault makes the Twingo in different trim levels and all are very well equipped with comfort and convenience features. Every car comes with connectivity as standard through the smartphone-operated R&GO system and each has satellite navigation capability. In addition, the Twingo has a huge range of personalisation possibilities.

The Renault Trafic is a multi award-winning workhorse. Among its trophies are the title of Best Medium Van for 2015 and 2016, and the Editor’s Choice in 2017 in the annual What Van? Awards. It is available in a wide variety of body configurations with standard or long wheelbase, low or high roof, it has long load design with little flaps cut in the bulkhead so it can take lengthy pipework, for example. There is a Passenger version too which is wheelchair friendly and the Trafic comes in three equipment grades – Business, Business+ and Sport in the van versions, and Business, Sport and SpaceClass in the Passenger options. Features standard across the entire traffic range include ESC (electronic stability control) with Grip Xtend, Hill Start Assist, DAB digital radio and USB port. Business+ and Sport models offer a ‘mobile- office’ environment with smartphone, tablet and laptop storage, A4 clipboard and flip-over work surface on the passenger seat back.
