D-MAX
The Utility version comes with a Euro 6 compliant diesel engine, two or four wheel drive and a choice of cab length from single to double to extended. Depending on the model it runs on 215/70 R15 or 245/70 R16 tyres. The range moves up the pricing ladder adding more spec. The Eiger derivative runs on 245/70 R16s, the Yukon, Utah and Blade versions on 255/60 R18 tyres and the flagship AT35 model on 315/70 R17 treads.
Trooper
The Trooper was Isuzu’s version of the Vauxhall Frontera, both marques then owned by General Motors, and was available in both family and commercial vehicle versions. It was a capable off-road performer and generally reliable which is one reason it became popular with breakdown assistance companies. You can find it in three or five door forms, short or long-wheelbase. From the earliest models which arrived here in the late 1980s, the Trooper was developed into a reasonably refined car by the standards of the day.
Rodeo
The Rodeo was a tough pick-up aimed at the commercial vehicle sector and built in a way designed to take the rough and tumble of being a workhorse rather than being marketed as a ‘lifestyle’ vehicle as some of its rivals were. It was facelifted in 2011 and offered buyers a choice of single or double cab body styles, 2.5 or 3.0 litre diesel engines, two- or four-wheel drive and manual or automatic transmissions, with a one-ton payload. It won several awards from commercial vehicle and caravanning magazines, but one area it did not do well in was safety, where it scored just two stars in the EuroNCAP crash tests.
