About Chevrolet
Chevrolet sold cars here until the end of 2015 when it shut down UK operations but there are still thousands of its products on our roads. Their similarity to models from the related Vauxhall brand make them popular on the second-hand market. They can also be serviced through the Vauxhall dealer network. However, parent company GM does still sell its Corvette and Camaro high-performance cars through a small number of specialist dealers.

Spark
A five door city car with a roomy interior and 1.0 or 1.2 litre petrol engines. The Spark replaced the car previously called the Daewoo Matiz and by Chevrolet’s standards the Spark was a good seller and still attracts buyers in the used car sector. The 1.0 litre cars run on 155/80 R13 tyres, the 1.2 models on 155/70 R14 (front) and 165/65 R14 (rear).
Aveo
A five door sold in hatchback about the same size as a Ford Fiesta or VW Polo, sold with a1.2 and 1.4 petrol engines and a 1.3 diesel. A high roofline gives it plenty of space inside although it lost out to many other cars dynamically in its driving characteristics.
Cruze
GM built this in three body forms, a saloon, hatchback and estate with this last version generally being the best received. The Cruze is roughly a VW Golf sized car and buyers were offered a choice of 1.6 or 1.8-litre petrols and 1.7 and 2.0-litre diesels. The spec was generous, but the cabin fixtures and trim was widely regarded as being behind the best.
Captiva
A solid 4×4 which found buyers among caravan owners and others who needed a good tow vehicle. A little clunky on the road compared to the best in class but it was a capable performer off it and unlike many SUVs, was quite happy tackling rough terrain. A facelift in 2011 made the Captiva a much nicer looking car and with a 2.0 or 2.2 litre diesel and automatically activated 4×4 it was a decent performer. Top spec versions also offered a third row of ‘occasional seats’ making it a seven seater, giving it added appeal among family drivers.
Orlando
A seven seater MPV pitched as a rival to the likes of the Ford C-Max or Renault Scenic. The Orlando has plenty of room inside with a third row of seats making it a practical family car. Chevrolet sold it with both petrol and diesel engines but very few customers opted for the petrol cars, preferring the torque and fuel economy of the diesels.
Corvette
The classic Corvette is now in its seventh generation and sold here in a variety of forms, including a convertible, but also different degrees of performance from its 6.2 litre V8 and chassis / suspension set up, catering for those who use it purely as a road car to those who want to explore it on a race track. In any of its versions this is a 175+ mph high performance car and Chevrolet has entrusted Michelin to help keep it on the road with its Pilot Super Sport tyre range.
Camaro
Officially classed as a four seater coupe or convertible but a two seater would be a more realistic description, the Camaro is powered by a choice of engines; a 275 hp 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo unit or the same 453 hp 6.2 litre V8 as the Corvette. Road testers enthuse about its chassis and handling and it is also remarkably cheap for such a charismatic car.
