About Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo’s story began in June 1910 when a group of engineers and entrepreneurs took over the Milan-based Darracq car maker and renamed it Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (A.L.F.A.) and five years later it was taken over again by Nicola Romeo, a successful entrepreneur from Naples, who put its and his name together.

Motorsport was central to the company from the start and its cars quickly became renowned for their sporty performance; indeed, a certain Enzo Ferrari raced an Alfa Romeo as a young man and managed its racing team before going on his

own path. In the 1920s and early ‘30s its cars were among the most revered of the day and even the proud industrialist, Henry Ford, is reputed to have once said `Whenever I see an Alfa Romeo pass I raise my hat in salute’.  As with many other marques though, Alfa struggled in the industrial strife of the 1970s and after a spell of state ownership was incorporated within the Fiat group where it has been ever since. Now Alfa Romeo is increasingly regarded as starting to regain some of the glamour and appeal it had once before and with Maserati, is being positioned as an exciting brand within the Fiat family.

Popular Alfa Romeo Cars

Alpha Romeo MiTo

The MiTo is Alfa Romeo’s three door hatchback pitched against the likes of the Ford Fiesta or VW Polo. It is Alfa Romeo’s smallest model and depending on which version you buy, can run on tyre sizes going from 195/55 R16 through to the biggest wheels, which are 18 inch rims with 215/40 R18 rubber fitted on them.

Alpha Romeo Guilietta

The Giulietta is Alfa Romeo’s five door hatchback pitched against cars like the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra. It has petrol and diesel engines, standard and sports versions with the impressive 240 bhp 1750 TBi flagship. For most of the range, Alfa Romeo specifies 205/55 R16 tyres.

Alpha Romeo Guilia

The Giulia is Alfa Romeo’s all-new four door premium saloon pitched into the company car sector against rivals such as the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series. The Alfa Romeo Giulia has been widely praised for its styling and lightweight chassis and although the flagship Quadrifoglio model, with its Ferrari-derived V8 engine, creates the headlines, it is the 2.0 litre petrol and the diesel models taking the sales.

Alpha Romeo Stelvio

Launched in autumn 2017 the Stelvio is the must-have car for Alfa Romeo as its entry to the vital SUV sector. Built on the Giulia chassis but with a raised ride height, the Stelvio benefits from the same aluminium/carbonfibre construction of the saloon and is widely regarded as being among the best handling cars in the SUV market. Alfa Romeo factory fits alloy wheels in 17, 18, 19 and 20 inch sizes depending on the model.
