On Tuesday 8th March 2016, the Cheshire and Warrington High Sheriff Awards celebrated their 10th Anniversary. The event, held at Chester Racecourse, saw some of the brightest minds in the North West brought together in honour of commending some of the greatest achievements from business around the Cheshire region within the last year.
Hosted by the vice-chancellor of the University of Chester professor Tim Wheeler and the High Sheriff of Cheshire himself, Bill Holroyd, together they presented a host of awards in front of more than 400 business leaders, finalists and judges, including members of the TyresOnTheDrive.com team.
TyresOnTheDrive.com were up for two awards this year, the High Sheriff Award for Enterprise sponsored by Cheshire & Warrington LEP, 02 and ESL Fuels, along with the Cheshire Business Leaders (CBL) Award for Outstanding Cheshire and Warrington Business Leader.
Having won the Mornflake Oats Award for Innovation in a previous year and seeing rapid growth throughout 2015, TyresOnTheDrive.com were strong hopefuls to pick up an award on the evening. And it was CEO Dominic Clark, who scooped one of the first awards of the evening – named Cheshire Business Leader. Whilst also gaining a runner up position for the Enterprise award.
CEO of TyresOnTheDrive.com, Dominic Clark commented “For the first two quarters of last year, I have invested heavily in finding a strong leadership team to drive the business forward, successfully pulling off triple digit growth by the end of 2015. With some of the brightest minds in the North West, I firmly believe that together, TyresOnTheDrive.com will disrupt our industry and increase our market share.”
After a few successful rounds of investment, the TyresOnTheDrive.com team increased their coverage from the North West and West Midlands at the beginning of 2015 to 85% of the UK by July of that year. This coupled with the opening of a new Distribution Hub to service the demand for Next Day fittings made 2015 a huge success story for the company. And the award was the icing on the cake to recognise the achievement.
Highlights of the night (apart from picking up the award, obviously) included guest speaker, CEO of AO.com, John Roberts. The perfect opportunity to absorb some of his wisdom – especially the story of the two Johnny’s…
Two students that both get A’s in History. One isn’t that interested in the subject, but has a really inspiring teacher that uses various different & fun ways to bring the subject to life. The second Johnny doesn’t learn in the same environment but has a real interest in History – watching the Discovery channel, reading up on historic events and frequents museums. At AO.com, their aim is to hire that second Johnny, but create a similar work environment to that of the first Johnny. Overall creating a standard far superior.
Here at TyresOnTheDrive.com, CEO Dominic Clark is aiming to do exactly that. So if you’re that first Johnny & you want to be part of one of the North West’s success stories, drop your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org.
