Tyres on the Drive.com use a reputable disposal company so you can be sure your tyres don't end up in landfill.
From 16 July 2006 it became illegal to put waste tyres in landfill whole or shredded.
The Landfill Directive means that more sustainable methods of recycling is used instead of mountains of waste accumulating.
There are many recycling options, below are just a few examples:
- retreading
- sports and safety surfacing materials
- thermal recovery as a substitute fuel in cement kilns.
Every day 100,000 tyres are changed every day in the UK, adding up to a whopping 450,000 tonnes per year which need to be disposed of in a safe and environmental way.
